Contribute
Types of Contributions for Classes
For classroom projects there are several types of contributions.
- Artist pages
- Artist page supplements or updates
- Essays such as book reviews

Each Artist page contribution focuses on a particular woman writer of color. That contributed page should contain biographical, critical and bibliographical information about the artist as well as pictures, quotes, and links to further information about her on the World Wide Web.
If you are considering contributing a page, we recommend that you go to the alphabetical artist index and explore some of the current contributions to get a sense of our expectations. We also offer contributors the option of appending an update to an existing site. [Click here for the alphabetical artist index]
If you are considering contributing a ReSound book review, we recommend that you explore the Resound section of the site. [ Click here for the ReSound review site]
Alternative Contributions
If you wish to contribute to VG but you're not interested in creating an artist page, we'd like you to consider other ways of contributing. For example, you may choose to expand on our timeline (click here for the timeline) or add to our list of artists (click here for the list of artists). Or you may wish to append information on current artist pages, for instance, by adding a paragraph on a writer's most recent publication. Or you may come up with a wonderful idea for our site that has never even occurred to us.
In any of these cases, please don't hesitate to contact us; we'd love to hear from you.
Student contributors to Voices have said:
"It was so exciting to be working on this project! The time I spent working on this, and I was always learning." Sarah Monahan
"I feel confident in the future to publish something on my own." Angi Dedinsky
"We all wanted to do well, and produce something we would be proud of and tell our friends about." Molly Cade
We invite teachers of high school and college classes throughout the United States to consider using Voices in your classroom. By taking advantage of this unique publishing opportunity, students can, either singly or in groups, research, write, and submit a new artist page which will appear, with their name(s) credited, on the Web, available to anyone with access to the Internet.
If you are interested in having your students contribute one or more artist pages to our site, please read our more extensive Note to Educators, available in both HTML (click here to read) and PDF (click here to download) formats. You may also wish to consider our Ideas for Alternative Contributions, above. Please feel free to contact the editors at:
